Basic Auto (MLR)

Our Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) is a basic auto program that will prepare you to continue on to our advanced training program. The focus is on safety, automotive systems and maintenance. See below to learn about the classes in this program.

Foundations

This class introduces you to the automotive technician world. You will learn about safety, tools, flat rate, inspections, service, flat rate and more. This class is a combination of hands-on and classroom. 

Electrical

In this class you will learn to use voltmeters, ammeters and ohmmeters to evaluate circuit conditions. Students will also receive comprehensive training on the theory of operation and troubleshooting techniques of Batteries, Starting and Charging systems. 

Brakes

This class covers hydraulic principals, brake system design and service. When students complete this class they will be able to inspect, diagnose, and repair the most common brake problems.

Steering and Suspension

In this class you will learn about tire wear, steering angles, steering and suspension components, pull diagnosis and tire service.  After completing the class you will be able to mount, balance and repair tires, R&R steering and suspension components and diagnose tire wear and steering problems.

Engines

The engines class is a student favorite. You will learn how to preform maintenance procedures such as oil changes, belt replacement. cooling system service and tune-ups. You will also learn the parts of an engine and the function of each component.
